BOSTON//PRIVATE SCHOOLS & PONCHOS

This weekend I escaped busy NYC momentarily to take a quick trip to Boston. I had been once before, but with no agenda this time it was great just exploring the city and taking a moment to relax. From roaming Central Square to indulging in some dangerous chicken and waffles at Back Bay Social Club, turning down the pace of life a few notches for a couple of days was just what I needed.

With spring finally here I’m getting to leave the heavy jackets at home and opt for some light layering in my style picks. During a morning on Harvard’s campus, I wore this tan cardigan with great draping detail. On top I added this cool poncho, which as an bonus had deep pockets to store everything I needed to carry for the day. Despite the slight breeze, the poncho was heavy enough to keep me warm and not to mention, looked cool blowing in the wind.

BOSTON//FIGHT NIGHT

All we’ve been hearing about lately is the big Mayweather fight, and finally last night it happened. Now I’m not big into sports (and admittedly can’t watch a fight without getting a little squeamish), but all this boxing talk helped inspire the fight night look I shot while visiting Boston. These floral shorts from Adidas caught my eye and from there I built a combo that knocks normal sportswear out the ring.

Sure, a bandage top, long blazer and booties aren’t your first thought with athletic shorts. But, it sure is a lot more fun than a hoodie! Plus, a funky outfit is the perfect match to some cool nail art.

Grey Skies & DKNY

I posted an Instagram photo of this outfit a while back and some of my friends were asking about this top. Was it all one shirt? Are the jewels made on the collar? Is that a jacket?

So, I decided to do a full post on the outfit. The top half of this look is actually comprised of a DKNY zip up vest I came across hanging out of place on a store rack. Having a hard time finding what to match it with, I finally chose a distressed long sleeve shirt from Express. Because everything was so simple and monotone, I was okay with the gaudy necklace for the daytime. Thought I’d also use this time to showcase one of my favorite bags also! I got this silver carry on while I was in Hong Kong years ago. It has lasted me through so many trips and days when a purse just wasn’t big enough for everything I needed to carry. Man, I love a loyal piece.
