Next Steps

Guess what I’ve just realized: Six months have already flown by since I started blogging! That’s right, six month of figuring out the best expression of my style; six months of going through photos; and six months of hoping that I share content that can inspire in some type of way.

With half a year having passed, I’ve been putting a lot of thought into what I want to do to put even more value into this blog. It’s not just about clothes, but rather I truly want to communicate my lifestyle full of fashion, hustle, travel and simple enjoyment of life and it’s dreams.

As I enter into this next six months, my next steps will be to add some new post categories. In the journey of further self-discovery, there’s naturally a lot more to talk about and a better understanding of how to communicate my thoughts and opinions.

Nonetheless, I’ll still keep sharing the looks I love. After all, things like new shades still deserve some love.

Believe it or not, we have made our way into August! The summer is winding down and it won’t be long before we’re entering the fall–it’s insane how quickly these weeks have gone by!!!

I will say though, I have definitely been trying to make the most of this season by staying busy. A couple weeks ago was the first ever New York Men’s Fashion Week, where I got the chance to assistant style at the Carlos Campos presentation and the Capsule presentation. Momentum has continued as I have helped on two more editorials since then.

Having grown up with my dad as the only male in the house, menswear is an area that I’ve just recently began really studying. However, with each project I grow more and more in love with it. Freelance styling work feeds my menswear interest, while this blogging allows me to play around with the endless options of womenswear.

This week I decided to feature one of my skirts I got from ASOS many years ago. I love how big the print is as well as its unique design. I find that shopping online for clothes leads me to pieces that others are less likely to have as well. I have to admit, there’s a small amount of pride that comes in knowing no matter how much time has passed, a print like this is still on trend and yet, I haven’t crossed paths with another person wearing “my skirt.”

Upper West Side Flow

This past week my sister (Erica) was in town, which means I ran around the city a lot more than I normally would–or perhaps I should say “ubered” around the city. It’s always nice when someone comes to visit because you force yourself to go to areas that may not be a part of your regular routine.

Each time I visit the Upper West Side it’s refreshing. The greenery and neighborhood feel is different than the huge corporate buildings that surround me downtown. However, as much as I enjoy this area, I don’t come very often.

I thought it’d be cool to stroll around with my sister over the weekend. I wore these amazingly comfortable jeans from Target that have become one of my favorites. Looking to switch things up from my normal darks, I wore this light-weight top from New York and Company featuring some bold, bright print.

During our time we had absolutely no agenda–just free roaming. This lead us to an amazing Italian lunch, some wandering in the flower shop and a trial of chocolate chip cookies from Levain bakery. Speaking of which, I was kind of underwhelmed when I finally got to the bakery. With all of the Yelp and Instagram praise, maybe I had hyped it up in my head too much. Is it really worth the buzz?

Nonetheless, our mini-adventures were great! A year in this city and I realize I’m nowhere near being done exploring…
